This means that a 14 inch tall table lamp can have a 12 or 16 inch bottom diameter for the fabric shade.

The last step is to determine the overall height. The height should not be more than the height of the harp plus half inch and not smaller than the height of the harp minus half inch. For a lamp that is 8 inches high, you should have a shade that is 8 1/2 inch or 7 1/2 inch high.

You should note that the height is necessary because you do not want to cover the base of the lamp since the base also adds to the style and overall effect of the lamp.

After choosing the right shade, bottom diameter, height and shape, you are sure to have one fabric that is a perfect fit for your table lamp.
